John Shirley is the author of numerous novels and many, many short
stories. His novels include Crawlers, Demons, In Darkness Waiting, and seminal
cyberpunk works City Come A-Wlkin', and the A Song Called Youth
trilogy of Eclipse, Eclipse Penumbra, and Eclipse Corona. His surrealistic
science-fiction fantasy novel, A Splendid Chaos, has also been recently re-published
in a new edition. His latest novel is The Other End,an "alternative
end times" tale. Collections of his short stories include Really Really Really
Really Weird Stories and the Bram Stoker and International Horror Guild award-winning Black
Butterflies. A new collection will be forthcoming in 2007. He also writes for
the screen (The Crow) and television. As musician Shirley has fronted his own
bands and written lyrics for Blue Öyster Cult and others. In the early eighties,
when this book was written and first published, he was living in New York City
and performing with the band Obsession (pictured on the right with Shirley on far right).
